Consul General Kevin Milas and his wife Eileen welcomed more than 650 guests at the CG residence for Frankfurt’s official July 4th event on July 3rd. The guests represented local and state governments; media, cultural, educational, financial institutions; and companies in the region. In his speech, CG Milas stressed the importance of Independence Day in 1776 and its meaning today in 2014 while also commenting on the current soccer world cup, celebrated by German and American fans alike. He thanked the guests for their attendance and support of the German-American friendship. Then the crowd enjoyed delicious burgers from the barbecue and a variety of delicacies from the sponsors. The Consulate’s “house” band, “City Tour”, provided entertainment.

On July 1, the CG and Mrs. Milas had attended the Fourth of July party for some 400 friends, political, cultural and business contacts of the German American Institute in Stuttgart that featured the U.S. – Belgium play in the evening. On July 6th, CG Milas and First Dog Alex joined the festivities of the German American Institute in Freiburg. These events offered welcome opportunities to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to our shared values. Photos: Frankfurt,Stuttgart, Freiburg
