On December 15, 2017, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Jeff Hovenier and Minister-Counselor for Commercial Affairs John McCaslin hosted a group of German company representatives for a roundtable discussion about their companies’ expansion projects in the United States. The representatives had participated as members of the German delegation in the 2017 SelectUSA Investment Summit in June 2017 in Washington, D.C. The event provided them with key insights into the U.S. market and an opportunity to connect with representatives of all 50 states to learn more about potential sites for their U.S. operations. In a lively discussion, the roundtable participants shared their experiences in working with local Economic Development Organizations, government agencies universities and research institutions to solicit the support they need to move forward with their expansion plans. John McCaslin congratulated them on their successful path and emphasized that the United States is open for business and welcomes German investors from all sectors and of all company sizes – from start-ups to mid-sized business and large corporations.

The annual Summit connects business representatives with U.S. economic development teams to facilitate U.S. investment by addressing business issues, such as site selection, infrastructure development, tax reform and deregulation.

Please register here if you wish to become part of the German delegation at the fifth SelectUSA Investment Summit to be held June 20-22, 2018 in the Washington, D.C. area.
