Travel restrictions related to entry into Germany remain in place. U.S. citizens are reminded to follow all German federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The federal government has provided a useful English-language FAQ covering the current public health and travel restrictions. Several local protests against COVID-19 restrictions have occurred recently and more are expected. These protests are not expected to be violent but U.S. citizens are reminded to practice situational awareness and take precautions to avoid protests. In the event of an emergency, first contact the Police at 110 or Fire/Ambulance at 112, as appropriate.
The U.S. Embassy in Berlin and Consulates General Frankfurt and Munich remain closed for routine services. We can offer limited emergency services on a case-by-case basis. Any person entering a consular section in Mission Germany for an emergency service will be required to wear a face covering; children under six years old and those unable to wear a covering are exempted.
