25 YEARS AFTER THE “PEACEFUL REVOLUTION” – THE TRANSATLANTIC PARTNERSHIP IN AN INTERCONNECTED WORLD:

The U.S. Embassy Berlin teamed up with neighboring institutions on Pariser Platz on November 2nd for a series of public events to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.  As part of the series, the Hotel Adlon Kempinski hosted a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Melinda Crane, Chief Political Correspondent and Anchor at Deutsche Welle TV.  Ambassador John B. Emerson, his British counterpart Sir Simon McDonald and French Ambassador Philippe Etienne offered their perspectives on the lessons of history as well as joint strategies to address current global challenges together.  One of Ambassador Emerson’s priorities is involving and empowering the next generation of young men and women to find solutions to these challenges and thus ensuring a more peaceful, prosperous, and stable world in the future.  An audience of over 250 participants, including many students and young professionals, actively engaged in the discussion and emphasized the importance of exchange programs to increase mutual understanding and cooperation.
