Christopher Street Day
Chargé d’ Affaires Kent Logsdon
Berlin, July 22, 2017
For the sixth year in a row, the U.S. Embassy has been a part of Berlin’s Christopher Street Day parade.
We are proud to be back. It’s important. We need to do more than just talk about the human rights – and marriage rights – of LGBT people. We need to stand up for the civil rights of all people, every day, everywhere.
That’s how change happens.
We have seen it in my country and we have seen it here in Germany – particularly here in Berlin, one of the world’s great cities, and partner to another great city, Los Angeles.
Berlin and LA inspire the world. They are known for creativity and the freedom that innovation depends upon.
The Berlin-LA sister city partnership is 50 years old this year. It is a great example of how Germans and Americans work, love, and play together. Partnership is how change happens.
All the best for a great Christopher Street Day.
