On Thursday April 24, 2014, the renowned contemporary American writer Colson Whitehead gave a reading of his work within the context of the Distinguished Du Bois Lectures at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He engaged in a lively discussion with the German author, critic, and journalist Wieland Freund. The event at the Audimax attracted faculty and students who appreciated the many insights this talk provided into Colson Whitehead’s works and creative process. The event was hosted by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the U.S. Embassy, and the Hanser Verlag. On April 25, Whitehead also participated in a seminar at Humboldt-Universität where he encountered a group of highly motivated mostly American Studies students eager to know more about him.
