Meeting between Ambassador Emerson and Federal Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Andrea Nahles

The Ambassador and Miss Nahles

Ambassador John Emerson met with Andrea Nahles, Federal Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, on January 26, 2016 to discuss the shared challenges and opportunities of the increasing digitalization of the economy.  They also exchanged views and ideas related to the integration of immigrants in the labor market, and discussed the negotiations of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) between the United States and the European Union. The Ambassador praised the strong and well-functioning cooperation between the U.S. and Germany and stressed that given the many similar employment-related challenges on both sides of the Atlantic, the U.S. remains interested in sharing best practices and in learning from one another in this area.
