With 2019 being the 40th anniversary of the Iranian Revolution, the United States calls on the European Union to join the United States in designating the entirety of Hizballah as a terrorist organization for its continued support of the Assad regime’s brutal war against the Syrian population as well as terror and assassination plots worldwide and in Europe. Hizballah is the world’s most heavily armed non-state actor, and calls for the complete destruction of Israel. Since its inception in the early 1980’s, Hizballah has received the bulk of its financial and technical support from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to perpetuate attacks on civilians in Lebanon, Syria, and elsewhere. The EU’s false distinction of Hizballah’s “political” and “military” wings enables the group to fundraise, recruit and operate freely.
