The U.S. Department of State recommends U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.
The German federal government has provided a useful English-language FAQ covering the current public health situation within Germany as well as COVID-19 related travel restrictions. Please note, travel to Germany for most U.S. citizens is still greatly restricted. More information can be found here: EU Travel Restrictions.
The U.S. Embassy in Berlin and Consulates General Frankfurt and Munich can offer a very limited number of appointments for passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. Additional information and available appointments can be viewed here. If no appointments are available online and you have an immediate need for passport services, please email us directly at one of the addresses provided at the bottom of this email. We are not able to provide notarial services at this time.
Social distancing measures have been implemented at the Embassy and Consulates across Mission Germany. Any person entering a consular section in Mission Germany will be required to wear a face covering; children under six years old and those unable to wear a covering are exempted.
