The U.S. Department of State recommends U.S. citizens avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. If you are a U.S. citizen resident in Germany and are considering traveling this summer, we encourage you to check the State Department’s country information page for your destination. The German federal government has provided a useful English-language FAQ covering the health situation in Germany as well as COVID-19 related travel restrictions.
Appointments for passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad are available at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin and Consulates General Frankfurt and Munich. Additional information and available appointments can be viewed here. If no appointments are available online and you have an immediate need for passport services, please email us directly at one of the addresses provided at the bottom of this message.
Social distancing measures have been implemented at the Embassy and Consulates across Mission Germany. Any person entering a consular section in Mission Germany will be required to wear a face covering; children under six years old and those unable to wear a covering are exempted.
