Do you have a valid residence/work permit for Germany?
Please note that you are not eligible for employment with the U.S. Mission to Germany if you do not hold a valid unrestricted residence/work permit for Germany. Please only proceed with your application if you hold a valid unrestricted residence/work permit.

Note for Eligible Family Members:
If you are an eligible family member (EFM), you do not need a work permit and are eligible to apply for all Mission Germany local positions. An EFM is a family member at least age 18 listed on the travel orders of a Foreign or Civil Service or uniformed service member permanently assigned to or stationed at a U.S. Foreign Service post or establishment abroad with a U.S. government agency that is under Chief of Mission authority (not under the Status of Forces Agreement).

Note for U.S. Citizen and Resident Alien Males:
To be eligible for a job in the Executive Branch of the Federal Government men must be in compliance with the Military Selective Service Act as amended. This applies to U.S. citizen and resident alien males born after December 31, 1959. Therefore, social security account number and date of birth must be included in the application.

U.S. Veterans Claiming Hiring Preference:
Every EFM applicant who claims U.S. Veterans’ Hiring Preference must submit a copy of his/her most recent Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD-214) with all other required application materials. Failure to provide a copy of your DD-214 to Mission HR by the closing date of the Vacancy Announcement means you lose eligibility for the hiring preference.
