Tom Drury took the audience to Grouse County, an imaginary place somewhere in the Midwest, at his reading at the English Theatre Berlin on September 11, 2017. Translated as one book that combines The End of Vandalism, Hunts In Dreams and Pacific, and published this fall by Klett-Cotta in Germany, Grouse County raises a lot of questions about America today, and parts of the country that are sometimes called “flyover states.” It is “kind of a fractured image of the place where I grew up in the Midwest,” said Drury in his humorous and lively discussion with moderator R. Jay Magill.
