New Orleans is one of the most important cities for the development of US American music culture. Its jazz, rhythm & blues, and other genres have influenced generations all over the world. In 2005, New Orleans was hit by one of the most devastating natural disasters in United States history, Hurricane Katrina. While the event continues to be present in people’s minds, New Orleans is still a place with an exceptional spirit for life, an ongoing sense of celebration that is deeply rooted in its unique tradition and culture. This exhibition features more than 5,000 square feet of original objects, sceneries, costumes, musical instruments, interviews, film and sound clips, and images by awardwinning photographer Michael P. Smith a.o., that tell the story of New Orleans’ unique culture and history.
