For information on how to apply for a passport, please use the passport navigator below for your nearest Embassy or Consulate. The navigator will ask you a series of simple questions and help you make an appointment at that location or provide you with instructions to send a mail-in renewal application to Frankfurt if you are eligible.
If you are replacing a limited validity or “emergency” passport within one year of its issuance date, please follow these instructions.
The processing time for routine passport applications is 4-6 weeks. If you are traveling within the next 2 weeks and need an Emergency Passport, please follow the instructions in the passport navigator.
You can fill out the correct form, or find information about your passport status at Travel.State.gov
You must provide one photo with your passport application. All our photo policies apply to both adults and children under age 16. We have a few exceptions to our photo policies for infants.
Diplomatic, Official, and Service Passports
Diplomatic, Official, and Service Passports are processed by the Special Issuance Agency (SIA) in Washington, DC. Please visit their website for detailed instructions. (Note: this link is only accessible from a U.S. government device). Passport services are arranged by your Military Passport Agent.

The Embassy/Consulates do NOT store prohibited items for applicants. There is no facility at the Embassy/Consulates to store such items, so you must make arrangements to store these items elsewhere before you enter. If you arrive with a prohibited item, you will be turned away and asked to make a new appointment.
