Concert in Honor of American Composer Paul Bowles

Paul Bowles Concert at the Ambassador's residence

Ambassador and Mrs. Emerson welcomed American musical artists, soprano Julie Wyma Furlong, tenor Laurent Martin and pianist Irene Herrmann to their residence over the weekend to perform a house concert of American composer Paul Bowles (1910-1999).  An American expatriate well known for his novel The Sheltering Sky and translations of Moroccan authors, Paul Bowles was also a prolific composer.  His songs feature many American poets and librettists; the artists presented a wonderful cultural performance of his work to a packed room.  Thank you for a lovely concert.
