On August 26, U.S. Ambassador-Designate to Germany John B. Emerson presented his credentials to German President Joachim Gauck. Ambassador Emerson is now officially recognized by the German government as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany and is the highest-ranking U.S. government official in Germany. In an official ceremony with military honors at Schloss Bellevue, Ambassador Emerson presented his credentials. After the ceremony Ambassador Emerson had a wide-ranging conversation with President Gauck. This conversation was very special to Ambassador Emerson because his grandfather and father were pastors, like President Gauck. Ambassador Emerson is very proud to represent the U.S. in Germany and is very much looking forward to serving as the U.S. Ambassador.
