Security Message: July 25th Demonstration March and Protests in Berlin

U.S. Embassy Berlin informs U.S. citizens that several protests and a demonstration march are expected to take place in Berlin on Friday, July 25th, between 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.  Approximately 2,000 demonstrators are expected, although previous demonstrations have had a much larger attendance.  The route of the pro-Palestinian demonstration march entitled “Al Quds Day” is expected to pass immediately in front of two pro-Israeli protests entitled “No Al Quds Day” and “Solidarity with Israel.”

According to information currently available, the pro-Palestinian march begins at U-Bahn Adenauerplatz, and will proceed east down Kurfürstendamm, where it will pass the two pro-Israeli demonstrations, before ending at U-Bahn Wittenbergplatz.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests,or demonstrations.
