The U.S. Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main is seeking a Volunteer National Student Intern for the Office of Support Operations of the U.S. Agency of International Development (USAID), www.usaid.gov
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The purpose of this internship is to offer students the opportunity to work in the U.S. Consulate General’s Agency for International Development section (USAID) as part of the USAID’s Management Bureau’s Office of Support Operations (M/OSO) for up to three months (90 days).
USAID’s Management Bureau is headquartered in Washington DC, and M/OSO is a forward deployed extension of the Bureau providing support to field missions around the globe. Our office provides financial management and contracting support focused services generally directly to missions (Surge Support) or indirectly via implementation of cross functional projects contributing to field mission project implementation.
A summary of assigned projects and / or duties during an internship include:
1. Gathering information to update M/OSO’s communication materials including the office’s intranet site.
2. evaluating shared support models and best practices and identifying opportunities to improve the M/OSO service offering.
3. reviewing and providing input into the office’s 5 year and 10-year strategies; and
4. assisting with documents as part of M/OSO current surge support work to USAID field missions.

● Eligibility Requirements: The U.S. Mission in Germany will accept applications from German & EU Nationals and Nationals of EFTA Member States for this internship program. The purpose of the Volunteer National Student Intern Program is to offer students enrolled in a university/higher institute of learning the challenge of working in a foreign affairs field.
● Application language is English. Certificates, awards or degrees in English or German do not need to be translated.
● Applicants must submit a complete application (cover letter, resume, and proof of enrolment in an educational institution).
● The U.S. Mission in Germany does not refund travel expenses incurred by the interviewee.
● The internship is a voluntary service. There are no benefits attached to this internship and no compensation, nor any future employment rights.
● Students selected must pass a background check and receive a clearance from the Embassy before commencement of the internship. The security check can take up to three months and may require a personal interview with the security department of the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt.
