Immigrant Visa Application Instructions

You will be instructed to schedule your interview appointment on your own after you have submitted all forms and documents listed in the Immigrant  / Fiancee & K-Visa Application Checklist (Pdf) to the U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt.  Do not submit any documents to the National Visa Center (NVC).

After the Immigrant Visa Unit has received and reviewed the documents, we will send a pre-appointment letter or email informing you to submit a request for an appointment to our Visa Service Provider. After the request has been approved by the Immigrant Visa Unit, you will be notified to log back into your profile and do the actual scheduling of the appointment.

Do not attempt to schedule an appointment before you are instructed to do so. An appointment request without authorization by the Consulate will be denied.

Visa applicants whose I-130 petition was filed with the Consular Section in Frankfurt will be required to pay the immigrant visa fee of $325.00 per visa applicant on the day of the visa interview. This fee can be paid in cash (both Euros or US-Dollars, or by presenting a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). American Express or U.S. Postal Service money orders made payable to “U.S. Department of State”; cashier’s check issued by an American bank in dollars.

Applicants are responsible for scheduling their own appointment for a medical examination directly with one of our designated panel physicians before the scheduled interview date. The results of the exam are valid for six months. The results need to be valid by the time you enter the U.S. with the visa, therefore, the visa will be valid only for the validity time of the medical. The medical exam appointment should not be scheduled too early.

If these tests expire on or before your interview, you must undergo a modified examination to update your results. If the medical exam expires before the visa can be issued, you must also undergo a modified examination to update your results.

Medical examinations performed by non-authorized physicians or an approved panel physician outside of Germany will not be accepted.

The following documents are required for your medical examination:

  • Valid passport
  • 4 photographs (photo requirements)
  • Vaccination records (vaccination requirements)
  • Fee (varies depending on physician)
  • Medical history (disabilities, illnesses)
  • Statement of pregnancy (Mutterpass)
  • Print out of the CEAC (DS-260/DS-160) confirmation page
