Weather Alert: Heavy Flooding in Western Germany

Location: Western Germany, between the Rhine and Meuse River Basins

Event: Western Germany is experiencing significant flooding in the German states (Lander) of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia between the Rhine river and the borders with Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The large cities in the region remain largely unaffected. Rescue operations are underway and many roads are impassable.

Actions to Take:

Follow the instructions of local authorities.

Ensure roads are open and passable and avoid flooded roads.

Monitor local media for updates before and during your travel. Monitor the German Flood Warning System website .
